The Artist’s Business Method · Course map

Lesson 24 / 24 · 35 min · preparation time

Make your next 90 days workable

The method becomes useful when you can repeat it without starting again. Keep the folder, catalogue, rights record and communication habits alive. Choose a pace that leaves room for creating and performing music.

Terms in this lesson

Song / composition

The underlying music and lyrics, distinct from a particular recorded performance.

Work through it

  1. 1
Choose one main outcome for the next 90 days. Divide it into three monthly milestones with a clear finished result for each.
  2. 2
List the next two weeks of actions, owners and dates. Include any unfinished registration, permission or payment issue rather than hiding it behind a new project.
  3. 3
Keep the weekly business practice. Add a monthly check for finances, catalogue information, profiles and upcoming opportunities; review relevant royalty statements when issued.
  4. 4
Save a backup of this course’s notes and progress. Print your plan if useful. Repeat the relevant lessons for your next song or live project, keeping only the channels and routines that help.
